Longford County Development Plan 2021 - 2027
The County Development Plan is a statutory document prepared by the Planning Authority in accordance with the requirements of the Planning & Development Act 2000 (as amended) and the Planning & Development Regulations 2001 (as amended).
The Longford County Development Plan 2021-2027 was adopted by the elected members on 19th October 2021. The Plan comes into effect on Tuesday 30th November 2021.

A copy of the adopted plan will be made available for inspection from Tuesday 30th November 2021 at the following locations during normal opening hours (subject to Covid-19 pandemic restrictions):
- Planning Department, Longford County Council Offices, Áras an Chontae, Great Water Street, Longford, N39 NH56.
- All County Longford Branch Libraries – Longford, Ballymahon, Drumlish, Edgeworthstown, Granard and Lanesborough Libraries.

Adopted Variation No. 1
At the June Council meeting, held on Wednesday 10 June 2026, the Elected Members of Longford County Council adopted Longford County Development Plan 2021 – 2027 Variation no.1 which consisted of the amendment to the Strategic Residential Reserve Zoning Objective text contained in Volume 2: Appendices.
The adopted Variation No. 1 of the Longford County Development Plan 2021-2027, together with the SEA Screening Report and AA Screening Report and related SEA and AA Determinations, are available for public inspection at the Planning Department, Longford County Council, Aras an Chontae, Great Water Street, Longford N39 NH56, during normal office hours.
