Abnormal Load Permit

An abnormal load is a load that exceeds the weight, height, width, or length limit(s) outlined in Road Traffic Construction Equipment and Use of Vehicles Regulations SI No 5 of 2003.

Apply for a Longford County Council Abnormal Load Permit

If you are intending to travel in or through County Longford with an abnormal load, you need to complete the Abnormal Load Permit Application Form and send it to abnormalloads@longfordcoco.ie. Applicants must give three clear business days' notice to Longford County Council to process this application. See the form for information on fees.

Applicants must also give An Garda Síochána four clear days' notice of this application. Email traffic_abloads@garda.ie to notify them that you will be transporting an abnormal load through County Longford.

You must also notify the local authorities for any other area through which you intend to travel.

Skip Permit

You need to apply for a permit to put a skip on a public road. Send your completed Application Form to Place a Skip on a Public Road to roads@longfordcoco.ie. See form for details of fees. Please give seven clear days' notice to Longford County Council to process this application. Appropriate insurance must be in place. See application form for further details.
 

Mobile Crane, Hoist or Cherry Picker Permit

If you intend to place a mobile crane, hoist or cherry picker on a public road or footpath, you need to send a complete a Mobile Hoist Application Form to roads@longfordcoco.ie.

Scaffolding Licence

If you intend to erect scaffolding, you need to send a complete Section 245 Application for New Licence or Renewal of Existing Licence form to planning@longfordcoco.ie.
