Land acquisition and Compulsory Purchase Orders
Land acquisition
In preparation for proposed developments, Longford County Council may seek an agreement with landowners for the acquisition of lands needed to undertake a road project.
Compulsory Purchase Order
If an agreement cannot be reached, Longford County Council has the power to acquire the land by Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO). This will be done following the procedures set out in the legislation.
Persons whose property may be the subject of a CPO may appeal to An Bord Pleanála against the making of the order.
