Roads to be declared as public roads

Under the Roads Act, 1993, a road authority may, by order, declare any road over which a public right of way exists to be a public road.

This is subject to several considerations including that the proposal must be advertised and consider any objections or representations. 

Below is a list of currently proposed roads to be declared public, along with

  • a description of the proposal

  • how to make objections or representations
  • and the closing date to make any objections or representations

Location: Templemichael Business Park, Longford.

Longford County Council proposes to declare the following roads at Templemichael Industrial Estate, Ballinalee Road, Longford to be public roads,

Description

  • The roads, footpaths, green areas and public lighting of Templemichael Industrial Estate, Longford Town, including the roads, footpaths, green areas and public lighting on the road that starts from the junction with the Ballinalee Road and continues for 463m to a cul de sac.
  • Also the roads, footpaths, green areas and public lighting on a second cul de sac road which starts at 130m from the junction with the Ballinalee road and continues for 186m to a point east of the Core Components building at the end of the cul de sac.
  • As well as the roads, footpaths, green areas and public lighting on a third cul de sac road which starts at the junction opposite the Co. Longford Scuba Diving and Rescue building and continues for 92m to the Vernier Software and Technology building.

  • Total length of roads declared as public roads: 741m
  • Total length of footpaths declared public: 1070m
