Road Closure St Patrick's Day Parade Ballinamuck

Temporary Closing of Roads – Roads Act 1993 (Section 75)

Road Regulations 1994 (Section 12) 

To facilitate the Ballinamuck St Patrick’s Day Parade 2026, Longford County Council hereby gives notice that it has made an order to close the roads in Longford town described hereunder:

Date:                               Sunday 15th March 2026

Hours of Closure              2pm - 8pm

 (On completion of Parade, roads may open when safe to allow access, which could be in advance of advertised time)

The Parade route is from Gaigue Cross to The 98 Bar

Road to be Closed:          L-1017 – Local Road Ballinamuck, Longford

Alternative Routes:         Traffic from Gaigue Cross should proceed on the R198 to Legga Cross junction (L-1023), then turn left and left again at Legga Church onto the L-1024 and proceed to the ‘98 Crossroads. Traffic from the ‘98 crossroads should proceed north along the L-1019 to Legga Church, turn right onto the L-1023 to Legga Crossroads (R198) and turn right again onto the R198 towards Gaigue Cross.

Traffic management/Signed diversions will be in place at Gaigue Cross and at the 98 Bar junction with Stewards at both points for the duration of the closure.
