Legislative Procedure for Traffic Calming Measures under the Road Traffic Act 1994
This public consultation period has now passed.
A non-statutory public consultation has taken place on the Active Travel Scheme LD/24/0003 Stone Park NS to Silver Birches Pedestrian and Cycle Scheme. The proposed scheme will consist of traffic calming and safety improvement measures between Stonepark NS and Silver Birches housing estate, it will enhance pedestrian and cyclist safety. The works will include:
- Provision of a footpath for pedestrians and cyclists from the School/Gratton Og GAA to Silver Birches housing estate.
- Installation of traffic calming measures including the realignment and upgrading of existing pedestrian crossing to a raised Zebra Crossing and provision of an uncontrolled raised crossing at the existing entrance to Gratton Og GAA facilities.
- Upgrading of signage and road markings for enhanced visibility
- Improvements to existing drainage networks where necessary
- Provision of public Lighting.
- All associated site works.
Longford County Council have prepared the Section 38 Public Consultation Report, and this report has concluded that the proposals should proceed. This decision to proceed has been formally recorded as a Chief Executive’s Order (Traffic Works Order).
