Aghnacliff Traffic Calming / Footpath 2026

Longford County Council in exercise of the powers conferred on it under Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act, 1994 hereby gives notice that it has prepared a Scheme for the provision of traffic calming and associated works at the following location:
Rathmore townland, Aghnacliff, Co. Longford – As part of the 2026 Community Involvement Scheme, Longford County Council intends to install traffic calming and footpaths to improve road and pedestrian safety along the L-1044-0 at Aghnacliff Village, with the primary objective of traffic calming through the village and improved pedestrian access to the local facilities.
The proposed works will consist of the following elements:
- Installation of a new 2m wide footpath and associated drainage works along the South bound lane of the L1044-0 (Ballinalee direction) from the entrance of the Lios na Croise housing estate to connect to the existing footpath at the bridge / junction with the Pulliness waterfall walkway.
- Traffic Management.
- All associated site development works.

Representations in relation to the proposed Schemes may be made in writing through the following two options:
- roadssubmissions@longfordcoco.ie up to 5pm on 31 July 2026
- Or made in writing and posted using the following addressed “Submissions, Aghnacliff Traffic Calming / Footpath 2026” to Longford County Council, Roads Section, Camlin Court, Great Water Street, Longford. N39 TF64 to be received no later than 5pm on 31 July 2026.
Please make your submission by one of the above methods only. Only submissions received as set out above will be considered. Submissions cannot be accepted in any other format or to any other postal address. All submissions received will be considered and will form part of the Chief Executive’s report on the public consultation process.
