Traffic Calming along L-1040-0 at Enybegs Village

Longford County Council in exercise of the powers conferred on it under Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act, 1994 hereby gives notice that it has prepared a Scheme for the provision of traffic calming and associated works at the following location:

Enybegs & Aghaboy townlands, Killoe, Co. Longford – As part of the 2026 Community Involvement Scheme, Longford County Council intends to install traffic calming and footpaths to improve road and pedestrian safety along the L-1040-0 at Enybegs Village, with the primary objective of traffic calming through the village and improved pedestrian access to the local facilities.

 

The proposed works as detailed on the attached drawing (Appendix 1), involve reducing the width and configuration of the roadway to encourage a reduction in speed of vehicular traffic through the village whilst improving safety for pedestrians and vulnerable road users. The narrowing of the road on both approaches will serve to reduce approach speeds which will improve safety. This will also improve the pedestrian experience crossing the road at or near the Community Centre and local Church. It will also provide an opportunity to improve the bus stop facilities for the local link bus service at this location.

  • Or made in writing and posted using the following addressed “Submissions, Enybegs CIS 2026” to Longford County Council, Roads Section, Camlin Court, Great Water Street, Longford. N39 TF64 to be received no later than 5pm on 11 September 2026.

 

Please make your submission by one of the above methods only.  Only submissions received as set out above will be considered.  Submissions cannot be accepted in any other format or to any other postal address. All submissions received will be considered and will form part of the Chief Executive’s report on the public consultation process.
