Section 38: Active Travel Scheme - Scoil Mhuire Clondra, Cloondara, Longford

An Active Travel Scheme under the Safer Routes to School Programme is proposed at Scoil Mhuire Clondra, Cloondara, Longford.
The proposed scheme will consist of traffic calming and safety improvement measures at Scoil Mhuire Clondra, Cloon aimed at enhancing pedestrian and cyclist safety under the Safe Routes to School programme. The works will include:
- Provision of improved pedestrian crossings and footpath enhancements
- Installation of traffic calming measures such as speed ramps and road narrowing. Provision of a footpath on the north side of the bridge and the creation of a yield right of way system over the bridge
- Upgrading of signage and road markings for enhanced visibility
- Improvements to existing drainage networks where necessary
- All associated site works
Longford County Council, as the relevant roads authority, may in the interest of the safety and convenience of road users, provide traffic calming measures as considered desirable in respect of public roads in the charge of the roads authority. This notice and the proposed works are in compliance with Section 38 Legislative Procedure for Traffic Calming Measures under the Road Traffic Act 1994 (As Amended), based on the nature, size, and location of the proposed scheme.

Alternatively, plans and particulars of the proposed scheme are available for inspection at the Planning counter, Longford County Council, Áras An Chontae, Great Water Street, Longford during its opening hours, which are Monday to Friday from 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm.
