R393 Dublin Road - Viewmount, Footpath Improvement Scheme

Legislative Procedure for Traffic Calming Measures under the Road Traffic Act 1994

Longford County Council under the Road Traffic Act 1994 (As Amended), a road authority may, in the interest of the safety and convenience of road users, provide such traffic calming measures as they consider desirable in respect of public roads in their charge.

The proposed scheme will consist of a New 3.5m wide Shared footpath / Cycleway aimed at enhancing pedestrian and cyclist safety. This will reduce the width of the existing carriageway.  The works will include:

  • Provision of improved pedestrian Footpath from The Old Ardnacassa Junction on the R393 Dublin Road to Viewmount
  • Improvements to existing drainage networks where necessary
  • All associated site works

Longford County Council, as the relevant roads authority, may in the interest of the safety and convenience of road users, provide traffic calming measures as considered desirable in respect of public roads in the charge of the roads authority. This notice and the proposed works are in compliance with Section 38 Legislative Procedure for Traffic Calming Measures under the Road Traffic Act 1994 (As Amended), based on the nature, size, and location of the proposed scheme.

Alternatively, drawing plans and particulars of the proposed scheme are available for inspection at the Planning counter, Longford County Council, Áras An Chontae, Great Water Street, Longford during its opening hours, which are Monday to Friday from 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm, from the 7th of October to the 21st of October 2026.
